iPLUG project has six work packages (WPs).
WP1 – System design: Concept definition, specification, sizing and location optimization
Lead Beneficiary: UoS
Project Objectives: The aim of WP1 is to conduct the overall system-design and to provide cost-effective solutions to the distribution grid planning, both at medium and low voltage, considering the installation of multiport converters.
The definition of the topology, control and communication architectures, grid requirements and relevant indicators such as operational, performance and design, the data collection and processing of different case studies including low and high voltage for the multiport converter
design and the development of a methodology based on optimization for choosing the number, size and location of multiport converters that are required in a distribution grid.
Evaluating the resilience improvement of the distribution network with multiport converters and identifying the scenarios where multiport converters can provide a cost-effective solution, especially considering the differences between low and medium voltage options and quantifying the increase of renewable hosting capacity that is expected by employing multiport converters.
